Introduction: Due to the importance and status of the endocrine field in the health sector, facilitating information retrieval in this field seems to be important. This study endeavored to run topic modeling of articles published by Iranian researchers in the field of endocrinology and metabolism in the science citation database. Methods: This descriptive study was done by text mining method. In this study, abstracts of articles were extracted from the science citation database using selected keywords of Medical Subject Headings (MeSH). 5552 articles were retrieved from 1977 to 2019, then the text of abstracts was analyzed and categorized in MATLAB software. Results: Subject categories with 20 items were extracted in 48 categories. Diabetes with 7145 recurrences has been considered by Iranian researchers more than other topics. Subject category related to metabolic syndrome diseases had the highest number of articles (304 articles) and subject category No. 47 which was related to osteoporosis had the lowest number of articles (51 articles). Conclusion: Iranian researchers have done more research on metabolic syndrome and less research on osteoporosis. Topic categories including Dwarfism, Parathyroid Diseases, Pituitary Diseases, Gonadal Disorders, Polyendocrinopathies, and Autoimmune that did not exist in the topics resulting from topic modeling indicate a gap in the research of Iranian researchers, that emphasizes the need for more attention to these areas.

Introduction: Scientific social networks increase the speed of data transfer through increasing the interaction among researchers in one hand, and result in their dynamism and identification and their scientific productions on the other hand. With regard to the importance of the presence of researchers in such networks, the aim of this study was to investigate the presence and the use of such networks by the faculty members of Semnan University of Medical Sciences, Semnan, Iran. Methods: In this descriptive-analytic cross-sectional study, 154 faculty members were present at the university during May to September 2016. The data collection tool was a researcher-made questionnaire whose validity and reliability were confirmed. Chi-square and Fisher’s exact tests were performed at a significant level of 0.050 to analyze the data. Results: 122 faculty members completed the questionnaire and returned it. 59.8% (73) of faculty members were members of at least one scientific social network. The relationship between membership in the Research Gate and academic rank was significant (P = 0.037); so that the membership of the academic degree of the instructor was less than the membership of assistant professors, associate professors, or professors. The most common reason for using scientific social networks was pursuing the activities of other researchers, and the most common reason for non-use was lack of time. In addition, there was a significant relationship between the lack of skills in information retrieval and academic rank (P = 0.004); so that a high percentage (38.5%) of the faculty members stated that they had insufficient skill in data retrieval. Conclusion: The use of scientific social networks will increase the visibility of scientific output, and consequently, increase the citation to the scientific production of the institute, which will lead to the promotion of university research.

Introduction: By studying and identifying the psychological characteristics of librarians’ entrepreneurship, we can think up innovations in accordance with informational needs of the clients and provide them with better service in the shadows of entrepreneurial activities. The aim of the research is to determine the motivational (psychological) characteristics of the entrepreneurship of the librarians of the medical libraries of Islamic Azad University (IAU) on the basis of psychological characteristics of the Humanistic school of thought and the correlation of the demographic variables with them and the effect of those variables on them. Methods: The method of This research was analytical survey. The participants of the study were 98 librarians of the medical libraries of Islamic Azad University in 2012. The data were gathered through interviews done with experts in order to select the motivational (psychological) characteristics of the entrepreneurship and through a researcher-made questionnaire for measuring those characteristics in the librarians. The descriptive and the inferential statistics (KMO and Bartlett’s test, one-way ANOVA, correlation coefficients and determination coefficient) and SPSS12 were used for data analyzing. Results: The motivational (psychological) characteristics of the entrepreneurship of the librarians of the medical libraries of Islamic Azad University (IAU) were significantly more than average. The educational level and library management degree were significantly correlated with the motivational (psychological) characteristics. Moreover, the coefficients of correlation between the variables of academic degree and educational level were positive and direct, and with an increase in the value of those variables, the motivational (psychological) characteristics of entrepreneurship arose. Conclusion: It is expected that the librarians identify the grounds for the entrepreneurial activities in libraries because libraries, with their scientific nature are ideal lacunae for making use of creativity and innovation in economic issues, and there still exists a valuable and sellable commodity named information. Information is the currency in the new economy and taking advantage of it needs employing librarians with entrepreneurial characteristics. Keywords: Entrepreneurship; Libraries, Medical; Librarians.

Information is a critical factor in information societies. By its very nature, it plays a key role as a valuable commodity in economic interactions. Libraries and information centers are the main centers for information exchange in order to sustain life in the information age. They are required to assess continuously to information services economically based on standard indicators. Cost-benefit analysis is a user-centered, systematic and quantifiable economic evaluation method compares the benefits with costs of a particular product or service. In libraries, cost-benefit analysis is a way to compare the positive outcomes with the expenditures. It is a way to evaluate relative advantages of different projects-serving users in terms of allocating resources; and its results can lead to making the best decision for the optimal use of resources and reforming the library function. This study was an unsystematic review conducted in 2011 using the Emerald Sciverce and ISI web of Science databases and Google, Google Scholar and AltaVista search engines with the following keywords: "Benefit cost analysis" and "Cost-benefit analysis". 51 related articles were extracted and analyzed. In this paper, regard to the features and capabilities of this evaluation method, the concepts, procedures, implementation, applications, components and major indecies of cost-benefit analysis in libraries and information centers are explained and its advantages, limitations and procedures are discussed.
